“This was also seen during the reign of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam, who developed the Sultanate’s early education system by establishing religious and Arabic schools,” he added.
Dr Haji Adanan stressed on the need for public support in expanding Arabic language usage in the Sultanate, and called for diversified teaching methods and the utilising of digital multimedia technology to strengthen usage of the language.
Dr Haji Adanan said KUPU SB offers Arabic language education at various levels. Today, the programme is offered at the higher diploma level.
The event continued with discussions on the development of Arabic language teachings between institutions in the country, delivered by representatives from KUPU SB Language Centre; UNISSA Arabic Language Faculty; Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; the Al-Azhar International Rabitah Alumni of Brunei Darussalam and Arabic language Association.
