G-Dragon’s ‘Home Sweet Home’ banned from KBS broadcast

SEOUL (ANN/KOREA HERALD) – K-pop icon G-Dragon’s latest song, Home Sweet Home, has been deemed unsuitable for broadcast by the state-run Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) due to a violation of broadcasting review regulations.

The ruling cited Article 46 of the regulations, which prohibits content with advertising effects, including lyrics referencing specific product brands. While KBS did not specify the exact lines, the song’s mention of “Airbnb,” a globally recognised online marketplace for homestays and experiences, is believed to have prompted the ban.

KBS conducts weekly music reviews, approving songs for airplay based on compliance with its guidelines. Artists whose songs are disqualified may revise the problematic lyrics and resubmit their work for reconsideration.

This is not the first time KBS has enforced Article 46. In October, Jennie of Blackpink faced a similar ban for her single Mantra, which referenced specific brands such as Defender and In-N-Out. Despite the ban, Jennie opted not to revise the lyrics.

Home Sweet Home, featuring fellow Big Bang members Taeyang and Daesung, marks their first collaboration since the group’s 2022 release, Still Life. The track comes on the heels of G-Dragon’s solo comeback single Power, his first solo release in seven years.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting whether the song will be revised to meet KBS’s requirements or remain in its original form.
