The Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (ALAF) programme is not only a vehicle to realise Brunei Vision 2035, but a platform to produce future leaders of Brunei equipped with the skills and values necessary for sustainability, said BIBD’s Head of Government Relations and Special Projects Haji Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah.

He said this during an appreciation dinner to honour the contributions of strategic partners and stakeholders in supporting the programme recently. The event also served as a platform to recognise the achievements of BIBD ALAF graduates. The programme has so far supported nearly 300 students, providing them with comprehensive academic and financial assistance to help them succeed.

Many graduates from the programme have built successful careers, with some completing engineering degrees and now working in Brunei’s oil and gas industry. Others have pursued studies in Islamic finance, education and healthcare, securing roles in key institutions.

Some scholars are furthering their studies abroad in fields like pharmacy, mechanical engineering and economics at internationally recognised universities. The dinner recognised the essential support of all parties involved in nurturing and guiding BIBD ALAF students, empowering them to reach academic success and contribute to national development.

Acting Director of the Department of Schools at the Ministry of Education Mariana Chek bin Bujang and Acting Director of the Department of Religious Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajah Mariana binti Haji Jamil were present.
