AIA Brunei launched the AIA One Billion Run 2024 during a press conference at its headquarters at Pavo Point, Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.
The run at Jerudong Park on November 10 is part of a global initiative and Brunei Darussalam’s 40th National Day celebration.
The event aims to raise funds for the Learning Ladders Society (LLS) and the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei.
AIA Brunei Country Manager Kenneth Ling said the AIA One Billion global initiative reflects AIA’s ambition to engage one billion people to live healthier, longer and better lives by 2030.
“AIA launched this movement to enhance the health and wellness of individuals while also striving for a more sustainable future in Asia. This initiative underscores AIA’s commitment to improving physical, mental, and environmental wellness, alongside championing financial inclusion across the continent,” he said.
AIA Brunei Head of Distribution Cecilia Phan said registrations and donations will be conducted digitally with online bank transfers as the initial mode of payment. She said a payment gateway accepting all card payments is expected to be available in the coming week.
“We want to ensure that we adhere to our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices by reducing paper waste while making it convenient for participants to register or donate directly,” Phan said.
Representatives from LLS and SMARTER Brunei also attended the press conference.
Hirman bin Haji Abu and Noorussa’adah binti Haji Abdul Rani shared insights into their organisations’ missions and the impact the fundraising effort could have on their work.
