Funds allocated to support private sector development

Allocations in the budget has been made to encourage development of private sector industry, said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Minister of Finance and Economy II Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah yesterday during the morning session of the 18th Legislative Council session.

Under the 11th National Development Plan (RKN11), BND3.8 million with project cost of BND20 million has been provided for the construction of the flyover at Muara-Tutong Highway junction and Tanjong Kajar’ Industrial Site. An allocation of BND1 million with a project cost of BND5.4 million under RKN 11 has also been allocated to upgrade basic utilities at industrial and commercial sites areas, said the minister.

DARe (Darussalam Enterprises) has also been allocated BND23 million to improve and upgrade the infrastructure at industrial site, expected to commenced in March for a period of two years, said the minister.

The minister expressed government support for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and highlighted initiatives made last year, including COVID-19 pandemic relief measures, such as the deferment of the Employee Trust Fund (TAP) and Supplemental Contributory Pension (SCP) from August 1 to December 31, 2021 and subsiding 25 per cent of salary payment to local employees of MSMEs.

He also said business development programmes such as the Industry Business Academy by DARe, continue to be organised.
