Fun-filled lessons on halal, haram concerns for public

Some 51 student volunteers carried out the Halal Concern Community Campaign (KMPH) programme to support the Day of Action Campaign in conjunction with the International Volunteer Day 2023 celebration through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The programme in the capital in line with Bandarku Ceria was organised by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through the Halalan Thayyiban Student Society (HTSS) from the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre.

The KMPH included a variety of games for all ages conducted by volunteers based on halal and haram knowledge, including quizzes, detective games and puzzles.

The activities and volunteers also encouraged visits to areas of interest such as Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas and Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien. The programme aimed to spread knowledge about halal and haram among the public and its importance in daily life.

The programme also aimed to apply the concept of ‘Quality of Education’ found in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as to apply, nurture and cultivate the nature of volunteerism among UNISSA students. – Azlan Othman
