Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College alumni
A sum of BND900 in cash and in-kind donations were presented to the Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association (PAPDA) during a Tahlil and iftar ceremony on Wednesday.
Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos presented the donation to Deputy President of the Council for the Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities (MKOKU) and executive member of PAPDA Haji Noor Ishanuddin bin Haji Noor Kaseh, who received on behalf of PAPDA.
The event commenced with a Tahlil ceremony, followed by an iftar with some 80 PAPDA members and their families.
The contribution was raised by the alumni of the 1979 intake of Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, of which the deputy minister is an alumnus.
MKOKU Vice President I and Deputy Chairman of PAPDA Haji Sahari bin Haji Tinggal presented a certificate of appreciation to the alumni.
The donation drive forms part of the alumni’s annual initiatives to support the less fortunate where in previous years, they have donated both cash and in-kind items such as groceries. – Lyna Mohamad

Ji De Care Society and Lugu Light Industrial Park
Some 66 orphans from three villages were brought together for the ‘Majlis Penyerahan Derma dan Berbuka Puasa Bersama Anak Yatim Kampong Kupang, Kampong Katimahar dan Kampong Lugu’ event at the Indah Biru Banquet Hall of Lugu Light Industrial Park recently.
The children enjoyed an iftar, received Hari Raya packets and gifts as a gesture of kindness and celebration.
Kampong Lugu and Katimahar Village Head Abdul Hadi bin Haji Abdul Sani expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute, saying, “Ramadhan is a time of giving and reflection. We are grateful to share this evening with these children and bring smiles to their faces.”
Organised by Ji De Care Society and Lugu Light Industrial Park, the event aimed to foster a sense of community and joy during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Brunei Shell Joint Venture
Some 38 orphans from 20 families received donations from the Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) Orphans Fund on Wednesday.
The families comprise children of deceased BSJV personnel, who received a total of BND7,600, where 100 per cent of the contribution to the BSJV Orphans Funds were from BSJV staff.
The event commenced with a safety briefing and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by Tahlil and Doa by Najmuddin.
The event also saw the presentation of donations, the breaking of fast and the Maghrib prayer.
Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) Managing Director Johan Atema, in his capacity as Social Investment Committee Chairperson, BSP Corporate Manager Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Awang Bakar, Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd Asset Manager Haji Zalani bin Haji Lalim, Brunei LNG Head of Instrument Engineering Harry Kok Voon Lee and Brunei LNG Head of Electrical Engineering Mohamad Rozaini Manap were present.
Badan Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam
Badan Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam (BTHMUI) recently distributed essential food to registered recipients of 20 asnaf in the Belait District, as part of the Infaq Ramadhan programme.
The activity aims to enhance the blessed month of Ramadhan by alleviating the needs of the asnaf community. It is hoped that the infaq (charitable donations) given will be a means of gaining forgiveness in this blessed month.
BTHMUI expressed its appreciation to Labisah Sdn Bhd for their contribution in making this Infaq Ramadhan activity a success.
