Fu Zhou Shiyyi Association advanced to the finals of the You-C1000 Basketball Cup 2022 following a 75-74 victory against Easyway at the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) Court in Batu Bersurat last night.
The result was a reflection of a tight knit match featuring on-court rivals. Fu Zhou Shiyyi Association took an early lead dominating the first two quarters thanks to their superb pressure defence, suffocating the ball off their opposition resulting in a high rate of turnover for Easyway.
Easyway did not go down without a fight as they managed to close the gap right until the last minute of the match as they tied the score 74-74. In the end, Fu Zhou Shiyyi Association triumphed by just a point
Fu Zhou Shiyyi Association coach Peter Chen applauded rivals Easyway for pushing his team to the end.
“It was a close game. Easyway did not make it easy, working hard to catch up in the second half of the game. They never gave up,” he said.
“It was an exciting game, credit goes to Esmund for controlling the game, to Mizi and Liang Wei and everybody that played their part. Now it is time for a good rest as we get ready for the finals,” he added.
Meanwhile, TK Tea House beat Yi’s Nation 77-62 in the other match of the night, and will meet Fu Zhou Shiyyi Association in the final on Friday.
