Friday sermon highlights meaning of Israk Mikraj

Israk Mikraj is one of the greatest miracles of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) after Al-Quran where the Prophet (pbuh) received a direct command from Allah the Almighty to perform the five obligatory prayers daily, said imams in the Friday sermon.

Israk is the night journey of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Masjidil Haram in Makkah to Masjidil Aqsa in Palestine, while Mikraj is the personal journey of the Prophet (pbuh) ascending from the earth to the seventh heaven and the Sidratul Muntaha (the highest place).

Imams called on the ummah to maintain prayers diligently as it is an obligation with immense benefits. Some of the wisdom behind performing prayers is to self discipline.

“If we observe and are diligent with every prescribed condition and principle, it will surely be an exercise towards self-discipline,” said imams.

“Prayers also eliminate old sins and increase the sense of servitude in the self. Prayer will remind mankind of their true selves as servants of Allah the Almighty,” urged imams. – Azlan Othman
