In the Friday sermon, Imams emphasised the importance of observing proper manners and ethics in speech, urging Muslims to uphold politeness in their behavior, actions, and words. They reminded the congregation to either speak good words or remain silent, avoiding backbiting, slander, lying, and the use of harsh, hateful language.
The Imams also advised the Muslim community to refrain from excessive talking, especially when it concerns unbeneficial or trivial matters, and to avoid engaging in debates, even when they are in the right. Additionally, they highlighted the importance of maintaining confidentiality and being able to keep secrets.
Citing a hadith narrated by Imam Tirmizi, the Imams mentioned three types of people that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) detested:
Thartharun: Those who speak as if they are knowledgeable when they are not, or who talk excessively about trivial matters.
Mutasyaddiqun: Those who demean or belittle others through their speech.
Mutafaihiqun: Those who speak only to make themselves stand out, seeking attention and admiration. – AZLAN OTHMAN
