French cooking experience comes to Brunei

Alliance Française de Brunei Darussalam (AFBD), supported by the French Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, is organising a French Cooking Experience to mark Brunei December Festival 2023.

Admission is free for the French Cooking Experience and will continue tomorrow afternoon at The One, Batu Satu featuring a cooking demonstration for over 20 pre-registered participants wishing to learn how to make ‘soufflé au chocolat’.

It will be followed by a dessert competition at 5pm, where dessert enthusiasts will bring their French dessert and showcase their baking skills, to be judged by a panel comprising Bruneian and French food lovers, including Bruneian Food Awards Director Pengiran Hassanuddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit and restaurateur, cake decorator and instructor Faridah Yussof.

Registration to the French dessert competition is free until today. Guidelines and enrolment can be found at afbrunei.org/bdf-2023.

“The French Cooking Experience offers the opportunity for food lovers to get to know French cuisine through the various activities offered during the weekend. With no French restaurant in Brunei, AFBD with its chef Vincent and Le French Corner will bring a little piece of France to Brunei,” said French Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Bernard Regnauld-Fabre.

Meanwhile, AFBD President Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah said, “Two major components of French culture are cinema and cuisine. Following the French Film Festival last weekend, the French Cooking Experience yesterday and tomorrow is a continuation which fits with the purpose of both the Brunei December Festival and Alliance Française’s spirit to bridge cultures and bring people together through food.”
