The Brunei Freight Forwarders Association (BRUFA) recently held a strategic dialogue with the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and the Industry and Business Ecosystem (IBE) Division at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE). This meeting, following an earlier engagement in May, aimed to address challenges within Brunei’s trade and logistics infrastructure, with a specific focus on streamlining customs processes for local businesses.
The RCED has implemented several proactive measures to bolster Brunei’s business environment, making it more competitive and resilient to international trade demands. These initiatives are designed to simplify customs procedures, improving efficiency and responsiveness within the sector.
BRUFA President Thomas Koh expressed appreciation for RCED’s recent efforts to streamline duty payments and expedite goods processing at border checkpoints since October. These advancements have benefited local businesses by facilitating smoother and faster cross-border goods movement, which is crucial for Brunei’s logistics and automotive transport sectors.
On behalf of its members, BRUFA extended gratitude to the government and MoFE for their commitment to fostering a robust business environment. The association reaffirmed its dedication to advocating for its members’ needs and strengthening collaboration with government agencies. – Fadley Faisal
