The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) reminded public not to neglect fire safety, whether at home or in places of business, especially during the current Hari Raya festivities.
The department said, “The precaution is necessary not only during festivities but should be a daily practice. The safety of your family, neighbours and properties is a shared responsibility. Avoid fire by increasing vigilance and fire preventive measures.”
According to statistics released recently by the FRD, a total of 1,182 emergency calls were received by FRD from January to March this year.
Majority of the calls were the Brunei-Muara District, where 878 emergency calls were received, while 114 calls were received in the Tutong District, 149 calls in the Belait District and 41 calls were in the Temburong District.
The FRD also received 47 calls on structural fires with 17 on building fires, 21 on house fires and nine on miscellaneous fires.
