Fourth volume of Brunei history book launched

The Brunei History Centre (PSB) launched the fourth volume of Tarsilah Brunei: The Transition Towards Modern Brunei (Year 1828-1924), written by former principal of PSB late Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Honorary Professor Dr Haji Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri bin Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Umar.

The book discusses the history of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin II (23rd Sultan of Brunei), Sultan Abdul Momin (24th Sultan of Brunei); Sultan Hashim Jalilul Alam Aqamaddin (25th Sultan of Brunei) and Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam II (26th Sultan of Brunei).

The book is a continuation of Tarsilah Brunei Volumes I, II and III published in 1990, 1997 and 2019.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad was the guest of honour.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) lecturer Professor Dr Haji Asbol bin Haji Mail was present to deliver a book review, who also launched the history book.

The main objective of publishing of Tarsilah Brunei: Transition Towards Modern Brunei (Year 1828-1924), Volume IV is to commemorate the 56th year of reign of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

It also aimed to answer the call of His Majesty in expanding the role of the PSB as an institution that chronicles the history of Sultanate. – Azlan Othman
