Fourth dose amid emergence of new COVID variants?

Due to the influenza season and the detection of new COVID-19 sub-variants, Australia has updated its recommendations for the fourth dose to lessen the burden on the healthcare system.

Given that Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 may cause more serious illness and cases are expected to increase in the coming months, the Australian authority now encourages people aged 50 and above to get a fourth dose to help reduce severe symptoms from sub-variant infections.

Noting that the Sultanate has recently recorded influenza cases and an increase in Category 4 and 5 hospital patients, are the authorities considering the benefits of a fourth dose to the older population?
