Some 252 intending haj pilgrims, including officers from the Haj Affairs Medical Office and Darussalam Services Sdn Bhd (DSSB), departed on the fourth flight from the Sultanate yesterday.
The flight is expected to arrive in Madinah at 2.40pm (Madinah time).
Of the intending pilgrims, 116 men and 133 women, are with Darussalam Services. Three officers from the Haj Affairs Medical Office – one male and two female – accompanied the pilgrims.
Parking lots at the airport were full before 7am. With cars at gridlock, police officers guided traffic at the airport. Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, who is also the Acting Minister of Health; and Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Mohammed Abdullah Al-Buraithin were present to bid farewell to the intending pilgrims.
Special Grade Mosque Affairs Officer Haji Haris bin Haji Suboh recited Doa Selamat, while officer at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Haji Hamdini bin Haji Garif performed Azan at the airport. – Adib Noor
