Four Indonesians nabbed for murder in East Malaysia

ANN/THE STAR – Four Indonesian men were arrested in Malaysia, in connection with the murder of a 47-year-old Indonesian labourer in Sabah’s Keningau district.

Keningau OCPD Superintendent Yampil Garai said that the four are aged from 17 to 37 and were nabbed separately in different areas of the interior district between 8am and 3pm on Saturday.

He said the four suspects were picked up along the roadside of Kampung Bunga Raya in Keningau and also in the vicinity of the Sapong-Tenom oil palm plantation.

He said police have yet to establish the motive of the murder.

The victim, who was still alive, was found by a passer-by in an orchard in Kampong Batu 27, on the Tenom-Keningau road at about 4pm on August 27.

“The victim was found unconscious but still breathing. The victim was then taken to Keningau Hospital for further treatment.

“However, it was confirmed that he died the next day due to internal bleeding in the brain following the assault,” he said in a statement yesterday. However, he said police received a report over the incident at about 9.50pm on Aug 29.

“As a result of the investigation, two women and a man were initially arrested by the police to help investigate the case to locate the four main suspects involved in the case,” he said.

This led to police separately arresting the suspects involved.
