Four local companies and an individual were fined by the Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Brunei-Muara District Office for offences under the Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021 and Section 12 (1) (a) of the same Act.
Two businesses were fined BND2,000 each with others receiving fines of BND1,000 and BND500.
Meanwhile, the individual was fined BND100.
The companies have seven days to pay the fines or face court prosecution, with penalties up to BND30,000 or 12 months’ imprisonment.
The individual faces similar action under the Miscellaneous Act (Amendment) 2021, with fines up to BND9,000 or 12 months’ imprisonment. – Lyna Mohamad
