The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) laid a foundation stone for a restaurant through a public-private partnership at the Bukit Patoi Recreational Park in Temburong District yesterday.

The project aims to develop the park into a tourist attraction.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab attended as the guest of honour.

Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Haji Mohd Yusree bin Haji Junaidi; heads of departments and senior officers at the MPRT, and Bundayana Contractor Sdn Bhd and other relevant parties were also present.

The MPRT, through the Forestry Department, has appointed an architectural firm, AND-AK Studio, to design the BND0.45-million restaurant at a 0.48 hectare site at the park.

The firm will team up with Bundayana Contractor Sdn Bhd to develop the project, which has received strong support from stakeholders such as the Temburong District Office, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Temburong District Development Authority (AKDT).

The ministry hoped that the project will boost the local economy while generating job opportunities.
