Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque committee members yesterday held a Tahlil and Doa Arwah ceremony, along with the presentation of donations in the form of basic necessities to 24 orphans and the less fortunate residents of the village, contributed by the committee members and villagers.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest of honour.
Mosque Affairs Acting Director Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri also attended.
The event aimed to promote the mosque as the centre for religious activities and charity.
Aside from encouraging the public to give alms, the programme also served to safeguard the community’s welfare by fostering friendship and brotherhood among the Muslims.
