Baden Powell (BP) Guild members and the Belait District Scouts Association (PPDB) joined a cleaning campaign at Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh in the Belait District yesterday.
Leading the BP Guild and PPDB contingents was PPDB Assistant Scout Commissioner Skip Yahya bin Majid, accompanied by BP Guild Chairman Beelie bin Tengah.
Instructor at the centre Nur Qistina binti Abdullah Serani welcomed the group.
Beelie explained that the cleaning campaign was an effort to support the community, and focussed on spending time with special needs students and instructors at the centre.
“The campaign also helped to encourage volunteerism as well as set an example for others to contribute to support their communities,” he added.
The group, as well as the students and instructors from the centre, cleaned the premises, which included trimming overgrown grass, and clearing dust and cobwebs.
A representative from BP Guild and PPDB received a token of appreciation from Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh in the form of cookies and pastries made by the students.
Community Development Officer at the Community Development Department (JAPEM) Hajah Rogayah binti Haji Abdullah and Assistant Community Development Officer Muhammad Iyad Fathi bin Ahad were also present.
