Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) welcomed the 11th intake of students into the BIBD Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (ALAF) programme.
In 2023, the programme was joined by 24 primary school and seven secondary school students.
BIBD also celebrated the achievements of 78 BIBD ALAF students who excelled in public examinations in the 2023 academic year and have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their studies.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, who is also the chairman of BIBD Board of Directors attended as the guest of honour. BIBD Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Junaidi bin Haji Masri was also present.
Meanwhile, two BIBD ALAF students have signed agreements to become ALAF scholars, marking a milestone in their academic journey.
Muhammad Masnur Alimin Hisyam bin Masri and Mohammad Firdaus bin Mohd Salleh will be pursuing their studies in Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh respectively at the International Islamic University Malaysia.
In 2020, the programme celebrated its first student pursuing studies in the United Kingdom. This year, one student was awarded the prestigious BIBD ALAF Scholars Award to pursue a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) at Monash University in Australia.
The programme, launched in 2013, provides comprehensive support to students from targeted segments in Brunei, including financial assistance, mentorship and training. – James Kon
