With more global organisations continuing to focus on building a strong and positive workplace culture, Baiduri Bank Group held its very first Leadership Forum at the Baiduri Community Space, Baiduri Bank Headquarters recently.
The forum gathered the bank group’s senior management team and people managers with the aim of fostering good leadership, building a stronger working culture as well as enhancing their overall understanding of the Group core values and why these values are crucial in fostering a productive and engaged workforce.
The forum also acted as a platform to facilitate dialogues between the senior managers and other leaders within the group to share experiences in managing their own teams.
The highlight of the forum involved four panel discussions with the bank group’s management team and other leaders focussing on its core values of trustworthy, inclusivity, empathy and enterprising, and brought forward questions that looked at the values and how leaders can influence and embed the values within their teams. The forum concluded with informal breakout.
Head of Group Human Resources and Administration Veronica Chong who was on the panel discussing ‘Empathy’ said, “The forum was a valuable opportunity for our senior leadership team to be hands on and interactive with the discussions, and facilitate informal discussions relating to our core values.
“The forum allowed people managers to be transparent with the challenges they face in their day-to-day interactions and be empowered to be more effective leaders through the unique peer-to-peer learning experience.”
Meanwhile, Deputy CEO of Compliance, Corporate Governance and Legal Support Manuel Bulens, who was on the panel that discussed ‘Enterprising’, mentioned how in the future, the forum will be an annual event to gather leaders and managers across the bank group with the main goal of enhancing their people management capabilities through relevant themes.
He said, “We are seeing more organisations around the world focussing on building a strong work culture, because they are fully aware that a company’s work culture directly affects productivity, retention and even customer service.
“With that in mind, we’ve planned other initiatives to enhance our overall culture, skills and capability to achieve organisational success.
“This forum is a great opportunity for our senior management as well as other leaders and team managers to share their views on our core values and how they relate to leadership.”
