In conjunction with Language Month 2021, the 4th Language Forum Series with the discussion topic ‘The Relevance of Libraries in the Industrial Revolution’ took place virtually yesterday.
The speakers at the discussion were former chief librarian of Universiti Brunei Darussalam Dr Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Abdul Karim, library officer at the Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Hamiza Diyana binti Hamidoon and library officer at the Malay Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Mohd Yadey Hazabillah bin Haji Md Zain.
Politeknik Brunei Senior Library Officer Pengiran Hajah Masdiana binti Pengiran Haji Damit moderated the forum.
The forum saw a call for libraries to adapt to technological advancement and improve professionalism in library management, have an open mind in accepting changes and develop competitiveness with the presentation of diverse digital content.
Along with the development of technology, the library not only serves as a centre of information, but it also functions as a centre of innovation and creativity, as the primary role of the library to consistently provide space, material and skills.
