The Employee Trust Fund (TAP) received the ISSA Good Practice Award for Asia and the Pacific Competition 2024 Certificate of Merit for its initiative, ‘Transforming Brunei’s Retirement Landscape: National Retirement Scheme’, during the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Regional Social Security Forum for Asia and the Pacific (RSSF Asia-Pacific) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from December 3 to yesterday.
ISSA President Dato’ Sri Dr Mohammed Azman bin Dato’ Aziz Mohammed presented the award to TAP Managing Director Haji Md Adfarul bin Haji Maz Adanan, who also led the TAP delegation. The international recognition highlights the improvements and design of the National Retirement Scheme (SPK), aiming for resilience, inclusivity and lifetime annuities for productive members.
Hosted by the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI), Saudi Arabia, the forum served as a platform for social security experts to share universal, resilient and adequate approaches in the evolving social security landscape.
The forum sessions included discussions on developments, importance and challenges in the context of social security across the Asia-Pacific region.
The forum also featured presentations on best practices and innovative approaches to achieving social security objectives through provided methods and services. TAP also delivered a presentation by its managing director, on ‘Transforming Brunei’s Retirement Landscape: National Retirement Scheme’. The presentation outlined the SPK and measures taken to enhance retirement adequacy and address economic, investment and demographic challenges in Brunei Darussalam.
