A forum on the evolving role of nurses amid the growing demands of the global healthcare landscape was held at the Jeruton Hotel on Sunday, in conjunction with International Nurses and Midwives Day 2024.
The forum discussed the development of nursing amid advancements in medical technology and underscored the importance of recognising and supporting nurses to ensure a robust and efficient healthcare system.
Around 100 nursing and midwifery professionals attended.
President of the Nursing Association of Brunei Darussalam (PENJURU) Datin Paduka Hajah Suraya Noraidah binti Abdullah, highlighted that the theme of this year’s international observance was “Our Nurses. Our Future. The Economic Power of Care.”
She emphasised the vital role of nurses as the backbone of the healthcare industry, not only in Brunei Darussalam but globally.
“The theme underscores how strategic investments in nursing can yield significant economic and societal benefits, such as increased productivity, reduced healthcare costs, and enhanced social welfare,” she said. – Fadley Faisal
