Guided by Brunei’s Economic Blueprint towards Goal Three of Brunei Vision 2035, the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) aims to drive private sector growth by encouraging foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic direct investment (DDI) to set up economic activities in the country, said Acting Chief Executive Office (CEO) of the BEDB and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) Daniel Leong.

He said this during the Economic Forum titled ‘Looking Beyond to a Sustainable Economy’ organised by the French Bruneian Business Association (FBBA) at Mutiara Ballroom of Radisson Hotel yesterday.

“Investors will be supported in the entire process including the setup of their cooperation at the designated industrial park,” he added. The Acting CEO spoke on BEDB’s vital role and function to facilitate investments. He also highlighted that investors can expect to establish linkages and provide spin off to local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through DARe. “The MSME agency focusses on driving meaningful growth of local enterprises through innovation, provision of effective development and support programmes and strategic relations with stakeholders. This prepares local MSMEs to participate and benefit from upcoming business opportunities,” he said.

He also spoke on specific business opportunities with five priority clusters – downstream oil and gas, food, ICT, tourism and services.

Other opportunities include economic development in Temburong District where BEDB plays the role of the economic champion under the Temburong District Development Authority.
