Former Indera SC striker Leon Sullivan Taylor recently joined Thai League 3 Western Region outfit Maraleina FC during the 2023-2024 season following the announcement of his new club.

The Liberian was an important member for the two-time Brunei Super League winners last season, finishing as the league’s top scorer and guiding the team to a second-place finish behind eventual winners Kasuka FC.

The prolific goal-scorer recorded a haul of 31 goals in just 14 appearances, justifying his inclusion to the side to add firepower and strengthen the team’s attack.

Amid the rise of sleeping giants Kasuka and Kota Ranger FC in recent years, the foreign import helped secure the club’s highest placing in the league since 2016 when they finished runners-up.

The star striker – who was part of a strong recruitment for foreign imports in Brunei’s football- was first introduced in the Bruneian football scene in 2020 when he turned up for Kasuka FC.

He helped the team reach the 2022 Brunei FA Cup final in which he scored in a 2-1 loss against pre-tournament favourites DPMM FC.

Leon, who has previously finished as top scorer in the Myanmar National League 2 in consecutive seasons, also scooped the Golden Boot after scoring 25 goals in the cup competition.

Prior to his career in Brunei, he contributed immensely to former clubs Royal Thanlyin and Chin United’s promotions to the Myanmar top tier Myanmar National League with his goals in 2018 and 2019.

Since joining the Pathum Thani-based side, the 25-year-old made an instant impression in his debut after his match-winner helped earn a 1-0 win against Thap Luang United at the Pak Tho Municipal Stadium last month. – Fadhil Yunus
