Muslims were reminded today during the Friday sermon of the virtue of forgiveness and the importance of patience in navigating life’s daily challenges.
Delivered across mosques in the country, the sermon urged congregants to adopt the noble character of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) particularly his disposition to forgive others and remain calm even in the face of provocation and wrongdoing.

“Patience and forgiveness are not signs of weakness, but acts of strength and nobility,” the sermon highlighted, explaining that harbouring resentment and seeking revenge often lead to personal distress, conflict, and sin. Instead, Muslims are encouraged to respond to hostility with kindness and good conduct.
The sermon also recalled how the Prophet (pbuh) never retaliated harshly or acted out of anger, choosing instead to remain composed and gracious in his dealings—even when wronged. This character, the sermon said, is worthy of emulation by all Muslims.
“Living in harmony as a family or community requires us to let go of grudges and misunderstandings,” the sermon continued. “Forgiveness brings peace to the heart and strengthens the bonds between people.” – Hakim Hayat
