The Enforcement Division at the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board fined a foreigner BND200 and a company BND1,000 on July 6 for violating Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021.
The foreigner was found to have improperly disposed cigarette butts at a public premise.
Meanwhile, a fine was also issued on a company at Jalan Bunga Kenangan, Seria for letting wastewater that was mixed with paint, flow into a drainage.
Both parties were given seven days to settle the fine. Failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.
If found guilty, the individual will be fined at least BND1,000 and not more than BND3,000 for the first offence and at least BND3,000 and not more than BND9,000, imprisonment of not more than six months or both for subsequent offences.
Similarly, companies found guilty of the violation will face a fine of between BND2,000 and BND10,000 for the first offence, and between BND10,000 and BND30,000, imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both, for subsequent offences.
