An Indonesian woman was sentenced to three months’ jail and ordered to settle a BND500 fine for entering the Sultanate without using a passport by the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Erna Dewi Saputri, 37, is to serve an additional month’s jail in default of payment of the fine.
Immigration Prosecutor Mohd Zul Azri bin Haji Ranee informed Senior Magistrate Pengiran Hazirah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof that the defendant was arrested during an inspection by immigration enforcement officers at her rented house on June 7.
During questioning, officers found no valid entry pass on her travel document.
Investigations revealed she entered Brunei from Limbang by boat in April 2021.
