A 38-year-old foreign woman allegedly involved in offering sexual services and a 37-year-old local man, believed to be the customer were detained by personnel of the Gambling Suppression and Anti-Vice Unit personnel at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) during a raid recently.
The operation conducted in a rented room in Batu Bersurat led to the discovery of cash, condoms, lubricants and mobile phones, said the RBPF.
Both suspects and evidence have been brought to the department for further investigations.
The woman is being investigated under Section 294A, Chapter 22 of the Criminal Procedure Code for offering sexual services. The man is being probed under Section 294B, Chapter 22 of the Criminal Procedure Code for committing the offence of paying for sexual services.
The RBPF, meanwhile, called on the public to lend their support in curbing criminal activities in the country by sharing information regarding suspicious activities by calling the police hotline at 993 or reporting to a police station. – James Kon
