Foreign visitors and ethnic communities were among those who joined thousands of participants in the 41st National Day parade in the capital, celebrating unity and cultural diversity.
Among the international attendees were Maria and Nicu, a Romanian couple in their 60s and 70s, captivated by the patriotic display. “It’s wonderful to see how the people come together,” Maria said.
Nadja, a German national visiting from the Philippines, also expressed enthusiasm, calling the celebration “fun and vibrant”.
Local ethnic groups, including Persatuan Lun Bawang Murut Brunei (PLBMB) and Puak Dusun also took part in the procession. Salman, a representative of PLBMB said their 60-member contingent marched under the theme Aspirasi Mencapai Cita-Cita Negara, inspiring youth to continue the legacy of their pioneers.
Haji Mohammad Syafien Yandol, among a group of 48 from Puak Dusun, emphasised the annual event’s significance in preserving cultural heritage. “I’m always excited to join,” he said. “It’s a way to show our patriotism and train our youth to remember their legacy, language and culture.”
The participation of diverse communities reflected the nation’s commitment to inclusivity and shared progress, reinforcing the National Day’s spirit of unity and pride. – Fadley Faisal
