Foreign nationals caught violating work permits

Two foreign workers were caught working in contrast to the job description stated in their work permits on Wednesday.

The duo were apprehended by immigration enforcement officers during an operation codenamed Tumpas JIPK 07/2022 in Mukim Serasa. They were found violating Regulation 15(3), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act.

The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) reminded the public that foreign nationals committing an offence in the Sultanate will be charged in court, imprisoned and deported to the country of origin as well as being blacklisted.

The operation was conducted based on public tip-offs and surveillance from law enforcement agencies. It was aimed at enforcing the Immigration Act, the Passport Act, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Order 2019 and other laws and regulations in the Sultanante.
