Football league for schools kicks off

The Ministry of Education through the Physical and Recreation Division, Department of Co-Curriculum Education with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) organised the Brunei Darussalam Schools Football League (BDSFL) 2023 for government secondary school students, colleges and sixth form centres including under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and private school.

Some 24 teams will be competing every Wednesday from this week to August 9 in three different locations – FABD Football Field, FABD Artificial Football Field and the Tutong Sports Complex.

The tournament will be contested in a league format with teams divided into eight groups which will end with a playoff round.

The winner for each group will qualify for the BDSFL Super League 2024 whereby the remaining teams will compete in the BDSFL Premier Cup 2024.

The opening-day matches saw Muda Hashim Secondary School defeating Sayyidina Husain Secondary School 8-0 while Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School beat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School 2-0.
