Food supervisor fined over serving dubious chicken wings

The Magistrate’s Court fined a food supervisor for using dubious marinated chicken wings weighing 6.2 kilogrammes in a halal-registered restaurant at a food court complex on December 12, 2022.

Indonesian national Rohmah was fined BND2,300 or two months’ imprisonment in default, after pleading guilty under Section 37 of the Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order 2005.

In light of the incident, the Ministry of Religious Affairs reminded registered halal food supervisors to ensure that food served at their business premises is halal, clean and in accordance with the Syara’ law. – Azlan Othman
