The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), Ministry of Development organised a Stakeholders Engagement on the Eco Food Waste Initiative for hotel managers, restaurant operators, cafés, and food catering companies with the session aimed to encourage food providers to play a more active role in food waste recycling.
The event held at Indera Pahlawan Hall, the Authority on Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) yesterday, a part of the Eco Food Waste Initiative, aimed to promote eco-friendly food waste management practices among selected food providers.
It also served as a crucial starting point, signifying support and commitment towards achieving the initiative’s objectives and the government’s aspiration for resilient and sustainable waste management.
The event featured a presentation by JASTRe on the Eco Food Waste Initiative, followed by a briefing from Biofield Solutions on recycling food waste into high-quality fertiliser.
As part of the initiative, JASTRe distributed Eco Food Waste Initiative posters and stickers to participating hotels, restaurants, cafés and catering companies as a symbolic pledge of their commitment to eco-friendly food waste management practices. In collaboration with the management of One Riverside, JASTRe also distributed reusable bags, posters, and stickers to restaurants and cafés within One Riverside to further raise public awareness of the initiative.
Director of Environment, Parks and Recreation Hajah Martinah binti Haji Tamit was the guest of honour.
