Since the second COVID-19 wave in the Sultanate in early August 2021 up until March 14, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) has distributed dry food aid to 54,393 households nationwide, meeting the needs of 281,214 people undergoing home isolation.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said this at the press conference yesterday, adding that the “food aid delivery efficiency had increased from 87.5 per cent to 98.6 per cent on March 14, compared to the previous week.

“Food aid was delivered to 17,410 homes from March 5-14, meeting the needs of 91,770 people.”

The increased food aid distribution is the result of cooperation and integrated action employing a whole-of-nation approach involving government agencies, the private sector and volunteers.

The delivery capacity from food aid distribution centres throughout the country has been increased to 2,000 homes per day.

“This is to achieve the goal of delivering food aid within 24 hours after a request application is received,” the minister added.
