The public plays a crucial role in keeping a lid on influenza-like illness (ILI) and COVID-19 outbreaks, said Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Kampong Belimbing Village Head Yang Berhormat Haji Daud bin Jihan in an interview yesterday.
He said with the resurgence of COVID-19, it is more important than ever to ensure that communities fight the spread by following the health guidelines.
The LegCo member called on those who just returned from overseas to look out for any health ailments, and to isolate themselves if they are feeling unwell.
He added that should any of the COVID-19 symptoms pop up, screening for the virus using the antigen rapid test should be the first step. While there is no longer a self-isolation mandate, the public should still refrain from attending social events or at least mask up to prevent further spread of the virus.
A food vendor at Gerai Muafakat Tasik Sarubing Recreational Park shared the same sentiment.
Sarina binti Ibrahim also stressed for those exhibiting flu-like symptoms to follow the standard operating procedures or seek medical assistance. – Rokiah Mahmud
