    Focus on improving cultural research quality

    Culture is the pillar of civilisation shaping the identity of a nation. Its elements are feared of becoming extinct if not passed from one generation to the next, said Acting Director of the Language and Literature Bureau Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab during the five-day cultural research methodology workshop which commenced on Saturday.

    “The value of local wisdom possess in the community should be explored and expanded to strengthen and increase the national identity.

    “Therefore efforts need to be intensified especially through cultural research,” he said. 

    He added that the process of gathering information requires the skills and knowledge of a researcher in applying several research methodologies.

    Forty individuals, comprising officers and staff from departments under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as lecturers and undergraduates from Universiti Brunei Darussalam participated in the workshop.

    It aimed to improve the skills and techniques to produce a quality and comprehensive research.

    Culture elite Dr Haji Hashim bin Haji Abdul Hamid led the workshop.
