Around the country, the people have started hoisting the Brunei Darussalam flag to mark the Sultanate’s 38th National Day celebration which falls on February 23.
On Thursday, the Mukim Sengkurong Consultative Council (MPM Sengkurong) held a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Mukim Sengkurong Community Hall.
Adviser of MPM Sengkurong Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Kassim bin Haji Johan was the guest of honour.
Also present were Mukim Sengkurong Acting Penghulu Dr Haji Abdullah Hanif bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Dinda Haji Saman, Acting Village Head of Kampong Sengkurong ‘B’ Abdul Razak bin Haji Ismail in his capacity as the event Chairman, as well as mukim penghulus, acting mukim penghulus, village heads and acting village heads for Zone 5.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the arrival of the flag bearing delegation escorted by 28 cars and 10 motorcycles led by Acting Village Head of Kampong Jerudong ‘B’ Kamis bin Panjang. The flag was handed over to the guest of honour who proceeded to hand over the flag to the hoisting team.
Accompanying the flag hoisting was the singing of the national anthem.
On the same day, Politeknik Brunei (PB) held a flag hoisting ceremony in front of the PB main campus building in Jalan Ong Sum Ping.
Acting Director of PB, Lim Kian Boon was the guest of honour.
The ceremony commenced with the handing over of the national flag by the guest of honour to 93465 Lance Corporal KT Dayangku Nurul Diyaanah Izzati binti Pengiran Suhaini, a member PB’s army cadet and a student of Level 5 Diploma in Web Development.
It was followed with the hoisting of the flag, the singing of the national anthem and patriotic song Berkibarlah Bendera performed by the PB choir group.
