The Indian Association of Belait (IAB) held a flag-hoisting ceremony to commemorate the 76th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at its main building in Jalan Bunga Kuning, Seria.
Guest of honour, Acting Assistant Belait District Officer Mohammad Abdul Hadi bin Haji Syarifuddin participated, along with the association’s president Salimo.
Acting Village Head of Kampong Lorong Tiga Selatan Seria Haji Saidin bin Haji Ibrahim also attended.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Doa led by Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Zaka, followed by the hoisting of the national flag accompanied by the singing of the national anthem.
Salimo said the flag-hoisting ceremony was participated not only by the Indian citizens in the district but also residents and local communities in the area. “The event is aimed to foster a sense of unity amid different races and cultures and further enliven His Majesty’s birthday celebration,” he added.
