Five labour violations uncovered in Kuala Belait

The Law Enforcement Division of the Labour Department recently conducted Operation Siaga KB 139/2024 at Jalan Pretty in Kuala Belait and identified five violations of the Employment Order, 2009.

The violations included the failure to provide written employment contracts, unauthorised wage deductions, failure to grant leave on public holidays, failure to provide sick leave as certified by medical practitioners, and failure to supply first aid equipment.

The employers face fines up to BND1,000 per violation for these offences. The non-payment of the fines will result in court proceedings.

The Labour Department reminded employers to continuously monitor employee welfare in line with the Employment Order, 2009, including providing employment contracts and timely wage payments.

Employers are also advised against misusing Foreign Worker License and violating the Employment Order, 2009. – Fadley Faisal
