Five graduate from EmployAbility programme

Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd celebrated the graduation of the first intake of its social investment flagship programme, EmployAbility, at the Serambi Bathil Hall of Tarindak D’Seni in the capital yesterday.

Acting Permanent Secretary of the Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra was in attendance.

The graduates were : Muhammad Thaqif Ruzaini bin Muhammad Abdul Manan from ISC Scaffolding Level 2, Muhammad Nor Muizzadin bin Haji Abdul Azis from ISC Marking Fitting Level 2, Muhammad Faizan bin Muhammad Azman from ISC Marking Fitting Level 2, Norazman bin Bujang from ISC Scaffolding Level 2 and Mohammad Eddy bin Morsidi from ISC Rigging Level 2.

Launched on February 5 last year, under the sponsorship of BLNG Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, EmployAbility was initiated to increase employment and ability through capability building of the local workforce to support Brunei Vision 2035.

BLNG, through EmployAbility, is partnering with stakeholders such as the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC), Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC) and JobCentre Brunei (JCB).

The Local Personnel Agreement (LPA) signed on July 1, 2021 was the first initiative under EmployAbility, in collaboration with government authorities and the MISC.

The LPA was signed between BLNG and and its four business partners Adinin Works & Engineering Sdn Bhd, Tendrill International Sdn Bhd, Zainal Daud Sdn Bhd and Exceltech Solutions Sdn Bhd.

The pilot apprenticeship programme marks the second initiative under EmployAbility, which took qualified personnel from the four business partners to undergo training, fully sponsored by BLNG at training organisation for three months followed by four months of on-the-job training.

The in-service training will make use of the Lifelong Learning Centre (L3C) programme, under the MISC for Energy-iSkill’s Industry Skill Certification in collaboration with the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
