NEW DELHI (XINHUA) – At least five persons died and nine others were injured when a private bus rammed into a stationary truck on an expressway in north India late Saturday, confirmed a police officer yesterday.

Among the dead were a 42-year-old woman and her two teenage children.

The mishap occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, in the Firozabad district of the country’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh, reportedly due to the recklessness of the bus driver.

The victims were travelling in the bus after a ceremony in the town of Mathura near Agra.

Those injured were admitted to a local hospital. There were around 20 people on the bus, all relatives and friends of the family that conducted the religious ceremony.
