The first of 12 series of Haj courses for intending pilgrims this year started at several religious schools across the country yesterday morning.
The course covers aspects of Haj such as pillars of Haj, obligatory Haj practices, benefits of performing Haj and Umrah, as well as the do’s and the don’ts while wearing Haj attire or ‘Ihram’.
It is held every Friday and Sunday for two hours from 8am and ends on March 5.
Intending pilgrims also have an opportunity to interact with their course facilitators on issues and concerns, in addition to receiving guidance for the pilgrimage.
Course centres in the Brunei-Muara District are at Lambak Kanan Religious School, Pengiran Anak Puteri Amal Umi Kalthum
Al-Islam Religious School in Kampong Mulaut, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah Religious School in Berakas and Sungai Besar Religious School in Kampong Sungai Besar.
Meanwhile in the Belait District, the courses are conducted at Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Religious School and Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Religious School.
For Tutong District, it will be held at Pengiran Anak Puteri Norain Religious School and in Temburong District at Arabic Preparatory School in Bangar.
Around 1,000 intending Haj pilgrims are selected to perform the ritual this year, a figure similar during the pre-pandemic level.
