Porsche Brunei launched the first Porsche Direct Current (DC) charging station in the country on Saturday, enabling Taycan owners to charge their car in less than 25 minutes.
The launch has set the pace for electromobility with first-ever DC charging stations in Brunei Darussalam. The 350-kW DC charging station allows for much faster charging times with in just five minutes, the battery on a Porsche Taycan can be charged for a range of up to 100km.
Located at the Porsche Centre, the launch of the charging station was graced by Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Asia-Pacific Hannes Ruoff and Head of Region at Asia-Pacific Tim Walkowiak. High-speed DC charging completes the comprehensive three-pronged charging ecosystem approach for Porsche owners alongside convenient home charging, and Porsche Destination Charging at key lifestyle destinations. With DC charging technology, the current is charged directly into the battery without further conversion; the rectifier is installed in the charging station.
The DC charger installed at Porsche Centre Brunei can charge at a rate of up to 350kW, or in just five minutes, the battery onboard the Porsche Taycan can be recharged for a range of up to 100 km (according to WLTP). The charging time for a five- to 80-per cent state of charge is 22.5 minutes in ideal conditions.
“Today marks another pioneering moment for Porsche Brunei, and the direction for the future of electromobility is more certain than ever,” said General Manager of Porsche Brunei Lahiru De Silva.
“The launch of this charging station is another one of our many initiatives to elevate the EV ownership experience for our customers, making long waiting times for charging, a thing of the past,” he added. – James Kon
