Firemen rescue Sandakan woman from fifth-floor window ledge

ANN/THE STAR – A disaster was averted when firemen rescued a woman stuck on a ledge outside her fifth-floor apartment window in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia yesterday morning.

Firemen were called to the scene to help the 22-year-old get back into her apartment unit safely.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini said they received a call about the incident at 9.39am.

He said firemen had to later use abseiling equipment to get her back in the apartment unit safely.

Hamsa said the woman was not injured and she was later handed over to the police for further action.

Rescue operations ceased at 10.50am.
