Ten firefighters from Berakas Fire Station responded to a fire outside of a building in Menglait on Wednesday.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), firefighters led by Acting SO Haji Nordin bin Haji Lias arrived at the scene to find that the fire had died down and the residents safely evacuated.
No fatalities were reported.
The incident occurred as a result of an electrical appliance malfunctioning outside the building.
The cause of the fire and estimated cost of damages are under investigation.
The agency also reminded the public to ensure their homes are equipped with dry powder-type fire extinguishers, fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.
