Fire breaks out at South Korea plant injuring one worker

ANN/THE KOREA HERALD – A fire broke out at a Posco factory in Pohang, South Korea, yesterday, injuring one worker, fire authorities reported. The blaze began with several explosions at the plant’s third Finex furnace, around 4.20am, roughly 270 kilometres southeast of Seoul. The fire was initially controlled by 6.30am and fully extinguished by 9.20am. Witnesses described explosions that felt like an earthquake, with some feeling the ground shake.

Fire authorities responded around 4.50am, deploying 43 fire trucks and about 120 firefighters.

One worker sustained burns, while seven others were evacuated safely.
